Thanksgiving yoga for kids

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on all the good things in our lives. Gratitude and yoga go hand in hand, and practicing simple yoga poses is one way to teach kids thankfulness.

For the month of November, try the Pretzel pose. This posture twists across your body and is good for your digestive system.

Twists not only improve digestion, but also help to remove toxins from the body. This is especially important during this time of the year with all the holiday foods.

When practicing the pretzel pose, use the breath to deepen the posture by lengthening the body on the inhale and deepening the twist on the exhale.

For a fun way to practice thankfulness with children, try playing the ABC game of gratitude. One person starts with the letter A and says something that they are grateful for that starts with that letter. For example, "I am grateful for our armed forces." The next person uses the letter B, and so on through the whole alphabet.

We all have things to be grateful for, and Thanksgiving is a great time of year to practice that gratitude with the children in our lives.

Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving full of health, yoga and gratitude!!
