Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! The New Year is a time for change and resolution, a celebration of new hopes and dreams, and an opportunity to start with a clean slate.

What better time to continue to instill the health benefits of yoga for kids than this fresh month of January?

Kids should be encouraged to embrace yoga at a young age because during these formative years they are very impressionable and open to new ideas and concepts.Children who practice yoga develop a good value system as they learn to respect themselves and in turn respecting others.

Since yoga is a natural and healthy way for young children to exercise, relax, focus and strengthen their minds and bodies, what better gift could you give your child this New Year?!

  1. It's so interesting you wrote this post now! I've taught my kids (who are 4) a few active poses like headstand and ardha chandrasana but only yesterday I started teaching them savasana; I wrote about it here: http://www.mindfulzoo.com/2012/01/13/catching-the-wind/
